Indie legends The Charlatans added to the Newcastle Rock ‘n’ Roll Circus line-up
The newly unveiled Rock ‘n’ Roll Circus live music event taking place next summer on Newcastle’s Town Moor has today revealed that The Charlatans will be added to the bill alongside the legendary Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.
With chart hits such as “The Only One I Know,” “One To Another” and “Love is The Key”, 13 studio albums under their belts and a career-spanning four decades, the boys from Cheshire are one of Britain's most loved indie forces.
The classic Charlatans sound - driving Hammond organ, Northern Soul, and house-influenced rhythms, swaggering guitars and Tim Burgess’s sunny yet somehow yearning vocal - is instantly recognisable.

In celebration of their 30-year career the band released a limited box set collection ‘A Head Full Of Ideas’ last month, reaching #11 in the charts. ‘A Head Full Of Ideas’ features five albums and an exclusive seven-inch single and is a career-spanning collection that sums up their remarkable progress from 1990 Manchester scene hopefuls to one of the UK’s most enduring and best-loved bands.

The band formed in the West Midlands in 1988 and the current line-up comprises lead vocalist Tim Burgess, guitarist Mark Collins, bassist Martin Blunt and keyboardist Tony Rogers. All the band's thirteen studio albums have charted in the top 40 of the UK Albums Chart, three of them being number ones.
They have also had twenty-two top 40 singles and four top 10 entries in the UK Singles Chart, including the hits "The Only One I Know" and "One to Another".

The Charlatans will now join the bill at Rock 'n' Roll Circus and will be joined by hotly tipped Newcastle singer-songwriter Andrew Cushin.

Heralded as a fully immersive experience with a twist, this all-new touring concept will combine premier live entertainment with some of the biggest names in music, set to the backdrop of a circus, Las Vegas style.
Rock 'n' Roll Circus will have capacity for 10,000 people with 30 entertainers including tightrope walkers, jugglers, ring masters, fortune tellers, traditional circus food, a Ferris Wheel all under the roof of an impressive Big Top.
The ground-breaking event in Newcastle will kick-start with Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds on Thursday 9th June on The Town Moor - the site of the world famous Hoppings, Europe's largest funfair.

The Rock ’n’ Roll Circus aims to provide the best of live music alongside the best of circus entertainment and will tour the UK popping up in cities across the country with some big surprises, unique entertainment and big announcements forthcoming.
